Teacher Assistant (Exceptional Education) / Bay Road Elementary School

About the role

Teacher Assistant (Exceptional Education) 190‑day position at Bay Road Elementary School, available for the 2026‑2027 school year. A negative TB test result must be on file prior to starting work. FLSA status: Non‑Exempt. Reports to the Principal.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom teaching assistance
• Provide supervision of students at all times
• Maintain a positive classroom environment
• Provide students with daily care (e.g. toileting, diapering, feeding, etc.) as needed or required
• Adhere to district dress code policies
• Maintain required confidentiality regarding students and school records
• Positively support all facets of student growth and development
• Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum of sixty (60) academic credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education, or an associate degree (or higher)
• OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND Ready to Work Credentials WIN – minimum Level 3 certification
• OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND a passing score of at least 456 on the ParaPro assessment (state‑approved academic assessment)
• Or any alternative qualifications the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Pay

$21,874 base salary (based on education and teacher assistant experience)
