Teacher Assistant - ELA

About the role

Teacher assistants will provide targeted academic interventions in English at freshmen and sophomore levels. The assistant will work specifically with teachers of freshman and English classes to support instruction, primarily in small groups outside of the classroom setting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor student progress on common unit assessments and retakes
• Provide regular reports on this progress to identified staff members
• Work with teachers to support instruction, primarily in small groups outside of the classroom setting
• Facilitate re-teaching and both small-group and individualized academic interventions
• Assist teachers with instruction of small groups of students in various English lessons
• Relate effectively with and supervise students
• Work cooperatively and effectively with a teaching team to analyze data from common unit assessments and address targeted areas of academic remediation
• Communicate with parents
• Maintain accurate records related to use of time, student progress, and communication with various staff members
• Utilize student information systems and computer programs for the purpose of generating and organizing a variety of reports on student progress

Qualifications

• NCLB/Paraprofessional Approval
• Strong English background
