Support the classroom team (Teacher and Master Teacher) in the day-to-day operations of a California Young World, Inc. classroom (infant, toddler, preschool, and school-age). Assist with lesson planning, classroom organization, setup, and cleaning. Provide supervision and care for all children in the classroom group as a whole, participate in screenings and assessments, and take direction from Teachers and the Site Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Assist Teachers with weekly lesson plans in accordance with program curriculum and assessment data.
- Support Master Teacher/Teacher to maintain a developmentally appropriate setting in compliance with Title 22 and H&S Code.
- Participate actively in the classroom communication system.
- Provide supervision and care of all children (never left alone with children).
- Assist with collecting notes and anecdotal data for assessment of children.
- Maintain good parent communication, providing positive feedback daily.
- Support Positive Descriptive Acknowledgements (PDAs) to all children throughout the day.
- Help complete DRDP records for every child twice a year, including parent conferences.
- For children 0-5, assist Master Teacher/Teacher in conducting ASQ3 and ASQ/SE twice a year and upload data to FIRST 5.
- Encourage a Family Meal Service for meals and snacks, support a clean environment.
- Assist children with self-help skills, toileting, and diaper changing.
- Support each child's progress toward milestones and implement Positive Behavior Supports.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and inviting classroom.
- Collaborate with the team for children with special needs.
- Attend regular team meetings to discuss plans for individual children and classroom routine/setup.
- Communicate with Team-Teachers for support, exchange of ideas, and problem-solving.
- Encourage parents to participate in PAC-sponsored activities and events.
- Convey educational material and equipment needs to the Master Teacher.
- Represent CYW in a professional manner.
- Assist in tracking daily attendance using the Daily Health Inspection Report.
- Conduct daily health inspections to ensure the wellness of every child.
Requirements
- 6 CORE ECE units required.
- 6+ months of experience in a licensed facility.
- Must start within 3 weeks.
- Live Scan required (reimbursed after 90 days).
- Competent in childhood education and confident in abilities.
- Passion for helping children grow and learn.
- Reliable, passionate about the ECE field, excellent customer service, knowledgeable, nurturing, a team player, and strong work ethic.
- Willing to work at any of the CYW school sites as needed.
- Willing to work occasional overtime as needed.
Pay
$20–$23 per hour (based upon experience).
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:45 AM – 5:45 PM.
