About the Role
This is a 10-month, school-year position that serves as both a Teacher Assistant and Bus Driver. The role is funded through Title I federal funds, contingent upon annual renewal and availability. This is a 6-hour Teacher Assistant position; continued employment beyond the current fiscal year is subject to federal funding allocations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher with planning, organizing, evaluating, and implementing instructional activities and classroom procedures.
- Prepare necessary materials, equipment, and resources to support program implementation.
- Provide clerical and technical assistance as needed, following applicable rules, laws, and regulations.
- Assist students in understanding and adhering to rules and regulations.
- Follow the teacher’s direction to meet educational goals and objectives.
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce and assist in learning.
- Monitor students as instructed by the teacher.
- Use sound judgment in reconciling minor conflicts and correcting behavior.
- Supervise students in the cafeteria, playground, buses, bathrooms, and other areas on and off school property (e.g., field trips).
- Keep the teacher informed of any problems on a daily basis.
- Exhibit positive behavior toward parents and students.
- Assist in maintaining a functional and clean environment.
- Communicate student and school needs in a confidential and positive manner.
- Carry out duties punctually, professionally, and positively to ensure a safe and healthful environment.
- Conduct yourself as a positive role model.
- Maintain a school bus driver’s license (CDL) and accept bus driver assignments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervising teachers and building administrators.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or a minimum of 48 semester hours of higher education.
- Computer skills.
- Eligibility for a school bus driver’s license (CDL).
