Teacher Assistant

About the role

The Head Start program at Trafford seeks a Full-time Teacher Assistant to support the teaching staff in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for children aged 3-5.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children in all program-related activities
• Assist children with self-help skills and/or toileting
• Organize and sustain the positive functioning of children in a group
• Build the positive self-concept and individual strengths in each child

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or equivalency
• Previous experience with children and families preferred
• Familiarity with the Head Start program preferred
• Ability to provide or successfully obtain child abuse, state police, fingerprint-based criminal background, and sex offender registry clearances
• Initial health examination and TB test required
