Teacher Assistant

About the role

Assists in fulfilling requirements specified according to OHS Guidelines in all aspects of Head Start programmatic activities. Primary area of job performance includes working cooperatively with and under the guidance and direction of the classroom teacher, assisting the Teacher in effectively carrying out classroom responsibilities, conducting classroom experiences in the absence of the Teacher, and safely transporting Head Start children and their parents. Implements positive guidance techniques to support a positive classroom environment. Performs other related duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements

• CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) or a higher credential in Early Childhood Education
• Experience working with preschool children in an organized preschool program is preferred
• Valid SC driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required or must obtain CDL within the 90-day introductory period
• Acceptable written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to lift 60 lbs., stoop, kneel, run, jump, and move without any limitations

Pay

$18.42 hourly
