Teacher Assistant
Minimum Qualifications And Competencies
- Education / Background:
- Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) certification
- A state-awarded certificate meeting or exceeding Preschool CDA credential requirements (as per Colorado Department of Early Childhood)
- A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- At least 6 months experience working in an early childhood development setting
- At least 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university, with at least 6 credit hours in Early Childhood Development or a closely related field
- Enrolled in a Child Development Associate Credential program and expected to complete within 2 years from the date of hire
- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Basic keyboard skills and ability to use computer, computer software programs (e.g. Microsoft Office, Adobe), and web-based systems
Objective And Position Summary
The Teacher Assistant functions as a partner in planning and implementing the classroom-learning environment to promote school readiness by preparing children and families for school success and life success. The Teacher Assistant assists and partners with the Teacher in providing high quality developmentally appropriate care and education for children aged 3-5 in a center-based classroom in the CPLC ECD Colorado Program. In partnership and guidance from the teacher, the teacher assistant participates as part of a center-based interdisciplinary team to support the child in all areas of development while providing education, disabilities, health, and social service support to families.
The Teacher Assistant abides by all state and federal regulations that apply to care and education of young children, including the revised Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, and CPLC ECD Content Area Plans and Procedures. The Teacher Assistant actively supervises children by sight and sound at all times and in all environments, maintains all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment, facilitates health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor, and indoor environments.

About the Role
CPLC's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs are committed to giving every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, an opportunity to succeed in school and life. Provides full-day, full-year early childhood development services to low-income children, ages 0-3 years, and their families in educationally-stimulating learning environments.
Skills
The Teacher Assistant should possess strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to work effectively with children and families. They should also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work collaboratively with other professionals in the early childhood field.
Qualifications
The Teacher Assistant should have a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to supporting the growth and development of young children. They should also be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of child development theories and practices, as well as knowledge of state and federal regulations governing early childhood education.
Responsibilities

Schedule
The Teacher Assistant works full-time, typically 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
