Essential Duties
- Affords assistance in instructional activities as per the teacher’s guidance - this includes direct teaching of students.
- Should take on the responsibilities of managing the class when the teacher is absent or unavailable.
- Must adhere to mobility, dining, and direct care protocols as outlined by the teacher or therapist, and as specified on individual fact sheets.
- Supports students with their daily living needs, such as toileting, diapering, washing, tooth brushing, dressing, undressing, putting on/off adaptive equipment, setting up their learning environment.
- Enacts therapeutic goals within classroom activities, following directions from and collaborating with the therapist, which may involve systematic lifting and positioning of students and application/removal of equipment.
- Accurately records data and monitors student responses as directed by the teacher or other team professionals.
- Applies behavioral plans and intervention techniques for assigned students, as directed by the teacher or school psychologist.
- Communicates student information promptly and accurately to supervisors and/or relevant team members, which may involve verbal or written communication with parents.
- Engages fully during the entire shift to ensure proper supervision of students.
