Teacher Assistant

About the role

The Private Special Education school is seeking a highly motivated Teacher Assistant to join their team. The position involves working with severely BD students under the guidance of a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students in academic, social, and behavioral areas
• Assisting with daily routines and activities
• Participating in team meetings to discuss student progress
• Providing individualized attention and support to students

Requirements

• Paraprofessional Approved Certification or be qualified to obtain it
• Mature and at least 21 years of age
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• A valid driver's license

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Pass background checks by facility or licensing agencies

Skills

• Knowledge of special education principles and practices
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
• Patience and empathy towards students with severe behavioral disorders
