Teacher Aide - Metro Prep Grade School - Arlington Heights

About the role

Metro Prep High School, Grade School and Laureate Day School have been educating and supporting students with special needs for over 25 years, supported by FGC. Using a multidisciplinary approach, Metro Prep and Laureate Day School provide educational and therapeutic learning opportunities in a small, nurturing environment, allowing staff to tailor each student's program to individual needs. Metro Prep Grade School serves students kindergarten through eighth grade. The position starts ASAP and is located at 2525 E. Oakton St., Arlington Heights, IL 60005.

Responsibilities

• Establish positive, therapeutic relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Apply knowledge of therapeutic classroom practices, behavior management strategies, and special education programming.
• Support classroom instruction, student supervision, behavior interventions, and implementation of IEP accommodations and modifications under teacher direction.
• Collaborate effectively with teachers, counselors, administrators, related service providers, school districts, parents/guardians, and other multidisciplinary team members.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, school policies, and applicable federal and state laws.

Requirements

• Minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit required (or Associate's degree or higher, or successful completion of the Illinois Paraprofessional Test or other state‑approved qualification).
• Experience working with students with social, emotional, behavioral, developmental, or learning needs is preferred.
