Teacher Aide - ESCS Yonk Campus

Purpose of Your Position

Perform non-instructional classroom duties as assigned by the principal under the general supervision of a certified special education teacher.

Job Functions

• Understand and promote Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures.
• Aid the teacher and classroom staff in maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.
• Assist students in physical care tasks and health-related activities including therapeutic feeding, toileting, and positioning in adapted equipment.
• Collaborate with the classroom team in designing lesson plan activities based on knowledge of children with special needs and child development.
• Maintain accurate classroom documentation (student attendance and health checks, classroom housekeeping daily checklists, etc.) according to Coleman policy.
• Transport students to and from school; ensuring they are seated securely and all necessary adapted equipment is in working order.
• Be aware of classroom activities and the location of students at all times; anticipating and responding to individual needs as directed by the teacher.
• Perform other tasks to support the operations of the school as assigned by School Administration.

Qualifications

• Education Requirements: High school degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Experience: Experience with children with special needs.
• Employee Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently; meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and other regulatory agencies; meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this School which includes a medical and physical examination; able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds; able to assist in the evacuation of children, if necessary.
• Working Conditions: Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area; subject to frequent interruptions; may be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
• Hourly Rate: $22.17/Hr.
