Teacher Aide (Brownsville Child Care Center)

Responsibilities

• Work within the framework of The Salvation Army and its functions, policies and procedures.
• Adhere to schedules in the center and follow established personnel policies and practices.
• Assist in appropriately supervising children at all times according to DOH and DOE regulations to ensure safety and optimal program functioning.
• Plan and execute a program within the classroom that addresses the educational, social, developmental and health needs of the group and the individual child.
• Participate in discussions to develop educational goals appropriate to the age and developmental level of each child.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date written records on children's progress according to DOE, DOH and Salvation Army policy.
• Adhere to the approved plan for sharing information about children and the program with parents/caregivers.
• Keep classroom furniture, equipment and materials accessible and in good condition.
• Share in the performance of routine chores related to all areas of the program.
• Maintain good working relationships with parents/caregivers and Salvation Army colleagues.
• Participate in staff meetings, mandatory trainings and professional development opportunities.
• Participate in recruitment activities to increase enrollment in the centers.
• Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the above and according to programmatic needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Either have or be working towards a CDA (Child Development Associate certification)
