Teacher 2/ Teacher 3/ Teacher 4 (NY HELPS), Rockland Children's Psychiatric Center, P27975

Responsibilities

• Teach elementary, secondary, or special subjects
• Prepare course and unit outlines, lesson plans, and individual education plans
• Evaluate and document individuals’ performance and progress
• Collaborate with treatment team to work toward treatment goals and objectives

Qualifications

• Teacher 2 – Current NYS Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty
• Teacher 3 – Current NYS Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty
• Teacher 4 – Current NYS Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and 2 years of post‑certification teaching experience in that specialty
• Alternatively, candidates may be considered under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they meet any of the above certification levels
• Or, candidates may be appointed via a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on a current Teacher eligible list
• Or, current State Service employees may qualify with one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a transfer‑eligible title under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
• All candidates must hold NYS teaching certification in Students with Disabilities/Special Education
• Background checks are required
• Appointees must not be listed as excluded individuals/entities on Federal/State Medicaid/Medicare exclusion lists; if listed, employment may be terminated
• If appointed, may need to become an enrolled Medicare provider, obtain an NPI number, and participate sufficiently to allow billing through Medicare and Medicaid; loss of billing ability may result in termination

• Teacher 3 – SG‑15: $59,363
• Teacher 4 – SG‑17: $66,212‑$80,655
