TEACHER, 110 RETIRED - MATH, 9TH - 12TH GRADE, TEMPORARY, ONE YEAR ONLY

This is a temporary one-year assignment for an active CO PERA retiree, working only 110 days or 720 hours per calendar year.

Provides instruction and carries out lessons as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction and carries out a teacher's lesson plan in classrooms as assigned
• Organizes students for effective instruction and learning while maintaining classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students
• Motivates student learning and academic participation while ensuring the integrity of academic time
• May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations
• Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (a Master's Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions)
• Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license (DPS accepts a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days)
• For ELA-S (English Language Acquisition - Spanish) positions: teaching in both Spanish and English requires taking the Spanish language proficiency (SLP) exam, proctored by Berlitz Testing. The Praxis II - Spanish: World Language 5195 exam (score of 163 or higher) is also accepted
• ELA-S positions: Must be bilingual in Spanish and English
• Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, with or without accommodations
