Location: Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center (DJRC), Nashville, TN. Three positions available. A Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) screening and criminal background check are required.

Overview

Under general supervision, this role performs professional case management work of average difficulty. The employee provides case management services to offenders in correctional facilities, including completing required functions, coordinating services, monitoring compliance, maintaining records, and supporting supervision and rehabilitative objectives in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures. This role operates with greater independence and responsibility compared to the TDOC Case Manager 1 position.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional case management activities in correctional facilities with independence and accountability for assigned caseloads.
• Review offender case information and documentation to support case actions, supervision requirements, and program/job participation decisions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Complete required offender assessments, screenings, and case reviews, determining appropriate case management actions within established authority and guidelines.
• Complete inmate custody assessment forms for inmates on assigned caseload and initiate/schedule monthly teaming meetings.
• Develop, implement, and update offender case plans and related documentation to support supervision, rehabilitation, and transition objectives, while monitoring progress toward goals.
• Coordinate services, referrals, and resources to support offender needs, rehabilitative services, and reentry preparation through collaboration with internal and external partners.
• Monitor offender status, behavior, and compliance indicators, initiating corrective actions, referrals, or recommendations as needed.
• Communicate with offenders and stakeholders to resolve case-related issues, documenting significant contacts, decisions, and actions.
• Participate in training, committees, and assigned initiatives; may provide informal guidance to less experienced staff.
• Conduct PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) screenings.
• Understand and communicate sentence credits, behavior credits, program credits, and pre-trial credits.
• Assist in the reentry process by ensuring all required documentation (e.g., Social Security card, birth certificate, identification) is received prior to release.
• Build, maintain, and audit inmate files.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree and one year of relevant experience in corrections, community supervision, case management, rehabilitation services, or a related field.
• Substitution of Experience for Education: Full-time relevant experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two years.
• Substitution of Education for Experience: One year of relevant graduate coursework in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or behavioral science may substitute for the one year of required experience.
• One year of experience as a TDOC Case Manager 1 with the State of Tennessee Department of Correction may also qualify.

Necessary Special Qualifications: A valid vehicle operator's license may be required for some positions.

Monthly: $3,631.00 - $4,533.00
Annually: $43,572.00 - $54,396.00
