About the Role

In this role, you will provide substance use counseling, facilitate rehabilitation programming, support inmate reentry planning, and maintain compliance with Substance Use Treatment Program standards. Counselors work directly with inmates participating in treatment programs and help coordinate their transition to follow-up services after release.

Requirements

You'd be a GOOD fit if:

  • You graduated from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED)
  • You are detail-oriented
  • You are familiar with substance use screening tools and treatment programs
  • You are seeking to start your counseling career and gain supervised experience while working toward full LCDC or CCJP licensure

You'd be a GREAT fit if:

  • You already have one year of full-time, wage-earning experience in substance use treatment or substance use education
  • You have experience in a therapeutic community environment
  • You have knowledge of substance use disorders, the disease model of addiction, co-dependency, and related disorders, and knowledge of counseling and recovery
