TDCJ - Substance Abuse Counselor I-II - Substance

About the role
In this role, you will provide substance use counseling, facilitate rehabilitation programming, support inmate reentry planning, and maintain compliance with Substance Use Treatment Program standards. Counselors work directly with inmates participating in treatment programs and help coordinate their transition to follow-up services after release.

Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED)
- Detailed oriented
- Familiar with substance use screening tools and treatment programs
- Seeking to start your counseling career and gain supervised experience while working toward full LCDC or CCJP licensure
Qualifications
You'd be a GREAT fit if you meet the following qualifications:
- One year of full-time, wage-earning experience in substance use treatment or substance use education
- Experience in a therapeutic community environment
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, the disease model of addiction, co-dependency, and related disorders
- Knowledge of counseling and recovery
