TDCJ - Maintenance Supervisor IV - Lock and Detent

About the role

Supervise the maintenance, repair, and installation of lock and detention equipment in state facilities. Plan, assign, inspect, and prioritize preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance projects. Prepare project estimates, approve material requests, and maintain repair records and technical reports. Coordinate work with other supervisors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with agency standards. Train and supervise maintenance workers while providing technical expertise on detention and security equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the maintenance, repair, and installation of lock and detention equipment in state facilities.
• Plan, assign, inspect, and prioritize preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance projects.
• Prepare project estimates, approve material requests, and maintain repair records and technical reports.
• Coordinate work with other supervisors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with agency standards.
• Train and supervise maintenance workers while providing technical expertise on detention and security equipment.

Requirements

• At least six years of experience maintaining and repairing lock and detention equipment or equivalent experience in electrical, electronics, or millwright work.
• Understanding of the operation and maintenance of security and detention equipment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to plan projects, maintain accurate records, and coordinate work with multiple teams.
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising lock and detention equipment maintenance teams.
• Extensive knowledge of technical and mechanical systems used in correctional security equipment.
• Experience managing labor, materials, and project resources for maintenance and construction projects.
• Experience training and mentoring maintenance staff or inmate work crews.
• Recognized as the technical expert for complex lock, detention, and security equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.

Additional Information

• Travel 50% – Position may spend 6–10 nights away per month.
• Hazardous Duty/Longevity Position.
