TCI - ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
About the role
The Administrative Support Technician assists with needed aspects to help support the clerical team. Duties may include performing appointment confirmation calls, faxing, following up on patient referrals, assisting with the MIPS process, and supporting the new patient coordinator. Maintains confidential interactions with patients and their guests. Responds to emergency situations appropriately and according to training.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient appointment confirmation calls while being courteous and helpful at all times.
- Assist with faxing records and scanning, ensuring patient records and information remain confidential.
- Treat all persons—patients, families, guests, providers, employees, and vendors—with respect and dignity.
- Maintain accurate time clock punches in accordance with clinic requirements and hospital policy.
- Track outgoing referrals and outbound transition of care, following up on post-referral appointment correspondence and attaching it to the patient’s chart.
- Participate in educational programs, in-service meetings, and other required meetings.
- Know hospital policies and be familiar with hospital services.
- Assist the new patient coordinator as needed and support staff with meaningful use measures and ACO tracking.
- Maintain good working relationships within the department and with other departments.
- Perform any other duties assigned by a supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older and a high school graduate or student.
- Current BLS certification, including training on defibrillators and renewal as required.
- 1 year of medical/dental office, clerical, or customer service experience preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office and Excel, with the ability to learn complex phone systems and hospital information systems.
- Excellent listening and communication skills in English with a diverse group of people.
- Basic math skills.
- Even-tempered with the ability to make sound decisions and judgments.
- Ability to prioritize multiple and competing customer and staff needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, treating others with politeness and civility.
- Team player who strives for daily excellence in all verbal and non-verbal communications.
