About the role

Join TCEQ's Office of Water and contribute to ensuring clean and available water and protecting Texas water resources as a member of the Water Quality Division. This position manages the Domestic Wastewater Section, overseeing domestic wastewater permits, engineering, domestic reuse, and the pretreatment program to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and agency policies under the Texas Water Code and the Clean Water Act.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Domestic Wastewater Section, including domestic wastewater permits, engineering, domestic reuse, and the pretreatment program, ensuring compliance with rules, regulations, and agency policies.
• Assist management in evaluating water quality permitting and proposed legislation impacting division operations.
• Serve as the agency spokesperson for the domestic wastewater treatment programs of the Water Quality Division.
• Complete and/or oversee personnel management functions, including interviewing, hiring, developing staff, and performance management.
• Manage the section budget, developing and implementing processes to ensure sufficient resources and expenditures.
• Provide technical expertise for rule development activities and lead the development of policy and rules.
• Provide testimony in contested cases or legislative hearings as needed.

Requirements

• Experience in the management of a business function, division, or department relevant to the assignment.
• OR graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to the assignment.
• Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure (e.g., communication systems, cybersecurity, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment, or water treatment facilities) as required for employment.

A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials may be required if needed to meet the qualifications.

Schedule

Standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedules are determined by the Water Quality Division.
