TCEQ Geoscientists will support initiatives in the Office of Waste (Superfund, remediation, radioactive materials, or underground wells) and Office of Water (groundwater or surface water). This role will conduct or oversee geological, geochemical, geohydrological, and geophysical field studies and surveys; gather samples; and analyze and interpret information to support sustainable water resource management and regulatory efforts.

Requirements

Must be licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG), or obtain licensure within twelve months of hire date.

Education and experience requirements vary by level:

• Geoscientist I: Licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG), or five years of full-time geoscientist experience and must be licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) or obtain licensure within twelve months of hire date.
• Geoscientist II: Licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) plus two years of full-time geoscientist experience beyond licensure, or seven years of full-time geoscientist experience and must obtain Geoscientist licensure within twelve months of hire date.
• Geoscientist III: Licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) plus four years of full-time geoscientific experience beyond licensure, or nine years of full-time geoscientist experience and must obtain Geoscientist licensure within twelve months of hire date.
• Geoscientist IV: Licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) plus five years of full-time geological experience beyond licensure, or ten years of full-time geoscientist experience and must obtain Geoscientist licensure within twelve months of hire date.

A graduate degree in a geoscience discipline may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum of two years substitution allowed.
