What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform reviews of water district applications;
  • Conduct research for unique non-standard applications to determine eligibility, engineering, and financial feasibility according to applicable statutes and Commission rules;
  • Provide recommendations and prepare related reports for use by the Commission and the public;
  • Cook up work, provide guidance, answer questions, and review the work and technical analyses of less experienced staff;
  • Serve as a mentor and lead training of new/less experienced staff;
  • Communicate with local, state, and federal agencies, engineers, financial advisors, attorneys, board members, and district directors to exchange information concerning water district application processing;
  • Inspect water districts to ensure conditions match those outlined in the application;
  • Enter data for all assigned district applications into the Districts database for tracking;
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and training manuals;
  • Participate with bill review and prepare bill impact assessment statements related to the water districts section during the legislative session.

Required Education & Experience

  • Texas Professional Engineer's license;
  • Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility;
  • The ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Transcript/Course Work

A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials in CAPPS is required if needed to meet the qualifications listed above.

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Water Supply Division.
