About the Role

Following established guidelines, the technologist performs all transcranial Doppler ultrasounds while modifying techniques as necessary to obtain the most complete and accurate exam possible. The technologist is also responsible for training all vascular ultrasound technologists to competently and proficiently perform transcranial Doppler exams according to established guidelines.

• Performs transcranial Doppler ultrasounds on inpatient floors efficiently and accurately, following all documented protocols, including Transcranial Doppler ultrasound flow studies.
• Identifies all vessels of the Circle of Willis and extracranial feeding vessels based on insonation window, depth, angle of insonation, and waveform morphology.
• Determines the absence, presence, and extent of disease.
• Identifies areas of interest and documents images to provide the reading physician with information for the final report.
• Analyzes results and provides preliminary reports to ordering providers, entering numeric values into patient charts for physician review.
• Develops a comprehensive TCD training program for all vascular ultrasound techs.
• Inspects and maintains equipment for quality control.
• Ensures quality, safety, and infection control standards are followed at all times.

Requirements

• High School Graduate / GED.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date).
