About the Role
Technician providing EEG testing services and performing neurophysiological monitoring in the hospital to assist with evaluating the functional integrity of the peripheral and/or central nervous system. Modalities monitored include, but are not limited to: electroencephalogram, electromyography, auditory evoked potentials, cerebral death evaluation, nerve conduction, intraoperative neurophysiology testing, somatosensory evoked potentials, and visual evoked potentials.
Responsibilities
- Performs all neurophysiology laboratory procedures within the guidelines of departmental policies and procedures.
- Monitors and communicates information to the surgeon and anesthesiologist during surgical procedures.
- Records, charts, and assists with financial expectations.
- Reports the effects of different anesthesia regimens on the waveforms being recorded.
- Reports surgical instrumentation impacts on electrical safety.
- Reports the effects of OR instrumentation on the quality of the neurodiagnostic recording during surgery.
- Performs other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- 1 year of experience in a healthcare environment.
- CPR certification.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of experience in clinical neurophysiological testing.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience monitoring END procedures or under the supervision of a qualified Neurophysiologist.
