About the role
The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) assigned to PCMH/OTP Community-Based Services provides one-on-one support and assists with day-to-day problem-solving related to normalization and reintegration into the community. The PSS utilizes best practices of assertive engagement, harm reduction, and peer support to engage with members in the community and the facility. The role embraces the recovery philosophy and promotes a safe and inclusive recovery environment for clients.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery.
- Assist with day-to-day problem-solving related to community reintegration.
- Utilize assertive engagement, harm reduction, and peer support best practices.
- Engage with members in both community and facility settings.
- Promote a safe and inclusive recovery environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of six (6) months’ experience in the behavioral health and/or substance abuse field.
- Minimum of six months of recovery from substance use and/or mental health disorders.
- Current AZ Driver’s License (valid and in good standing).
- Clear 39-month Motor Vehicle Record.
- Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Addiction and Substance Use Disorders certification preferred.
