Tax Support

This role is part of a seasonal tax team supporting our branch network.
Responsibilities
- Complete an extensive training program using software and online based learning
- Provide telephone and email support to branch employees and Supervisors regarding tax law, tax software, tax forms, correct signature and dating of paperwork, bank product paperwork, and other various administrative duties
- Maintain logs of incoming and outgoing calls in Help Desk program
- Affiliate with branch personnel in completing individual federal and state income tax returns using Drake Tax Software
- Assist branch personnel in reviewing forms related to tax preparation scanned in from branches to ensure proper data entry
- Affiliate with various tax return related documents including internal forms, IR, State, and Bank Product related compliance documents using KOFAX validation and OnBase and Home Office systems; determine if the forms meet required standards; communicate with branches on unacceptable documents and assist with correction
- Assist in the preparation of, and clearance of, returns with more advanced items such as: itemized deductions, self-employment, capital gains, rental, or royalty income, farm income, and other specialized items
- Affiliate with random bank audits
- Affiliate with processing of various bank product offerings and disbursements (debit cards, check printing)
- Affiliate with Tax prep collections – including RePayDial-in to branches to provide assistance with reviewing returns, printing return paperwork, processing payments and PTIN applications/renewals
- Affiliate with tax training for field personnel to include reviewing training materials, coordinating the printing and shipping of training materials, assist in live webinars and monitor the Learn Center
- Affiliate with 1040 Tax Processing Supervisors as needed and to help seasonal staff with common questions
- Conduct random internal audits to include specific return types, various paperwork, and IRS due diligence requirements
- Special projects as needed
Requirements
Prompt and regular attendance requires a regular Monday–Friday schedule of 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (May through December). During the annual tax season (December through April), extended hours are required. You must be available between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. as business needs dictate, and Saturday work (two per month) is required during this period.
Qualifications
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and extended hours, to include Saturdays as needed
- Knowledge of work processing, grammatical rules, and clerical formats
- Computer literate (Word and Excel) with data entry experience
- Analytical with the ability to solve problems quickly
- Ability to work in a high-paced environment and remain detailed, organized, and courteous
- Customer server experience in a call center environment
- Meet IRS requirements to obtain and maintain a PTIN
- Bookkeeping/math background a plus
- English/Spanish bilingual skills a plus
