About the role
RSM’s Private Company team is looking for a dynamic Tax Supervisor to join our expanding Business Tax practice. Our Private Company practice is rooted in strong relationships based on a deep understanding of what matters most to our clients. Our team of first-choice advisors focuses on closely held businesses and their owners, and may also support ultra-high-net-worth individuals and small family offices. Responsibilities
- Provide detailed review and analysis of complex tax returns (approximately up to 35% of your time)
- Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate collaboration between the client and the service team, managing risk for both
- May have people leadership responsibilities
- Train and develop staff members (approximately 10-20% of your time)
- Serve as the Tax client service coordinator for appropriate clients
- Review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards
- Assist with new business development, extended service, and tax issue recognition for existing clients
- Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
- Other duties as assigned
- Some travel may be required (varies based on location, line of business, and client need)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a business-related field
- Must be eligible to sit for the CPA exam, EA, or a licensed JD
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in public accounting with an emphasis on taxation
- Experience preparing and reviewing returns with one or more of the following: Partnership, S Corporation, or C Corporation
- Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
- Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or collect necessary information for tax service requirements
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to work in a collaborative team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Accounting, Master of Taxation, or MBA preferred
- Active CPA, JD/LLM, or EA
- Experience with private client or business taxation with a desire to grow skills in the Private Company area
- Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation; industry specialization a plus
- Experience preparing or reviewing accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC 740
- Experience in dealing with international tax matters is a plus

Pay
Compensation Range: $82,400 - $155,700. Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance. An employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range considers numerous factors including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, and location.
