About the role

The role involves advising on indirect tax regulatory changes and supporting compliance and reporting needs for both public and private entities. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities for tax optimization, managing compliance processes, and handling multi-state sales/use tax recovery projects.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying opportunities for tax optimization, credits, and refund recovery, as well as exposure reduction.
  • Managing indirect tax strategies, compliance processes, remediation, controversies, and corrective filings.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on a wide range of sales and use tax recovery projects for clients in multiple industries.
  • Supporting tax process reviews and technology transformation to enhance service offerings.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts, and tools.
  • An achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, the ability to sit for a state Bar, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, or CMI designation.
  • Proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
  • Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
  • The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
  • Strong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processes.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in tax legislation and impact assessment.
  • Experience in indirect tax refund and recovery review.
  • Proficiency in tax planning and optimization.
  • Knowledge of audit quality and remediation techniques.
  • Familiarity with credit modeling.
  • Understanding of data quality, accounting principles, and standards.
  • Skills in risk mitigation and data analysis/interpretation.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to use data visualization and storytelling to communicate insights.

  • Experience supporting opportunities for additional services (5-10% of time).
  • Experience assisting in completion of RFP responses.

  • Experience maintaining reports for engagement economics.

Pay

$81,700 to $135,000 base salary range for all geographic locations in the US.
