Responsibilities
- Running client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget
- Supervising, training, and mentoring associates and interns on tax projects and assessing performance of staff for engagement reviews; performing in-charge role as needed
- Reviewing tax returns done by staff and making recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gaining increasing responsibility in review process
- Preparing tax returns for more complex individual, trust, partnership, corporate, and foreign tax clients
- Researching and consulting on various tax matters; utilizing tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters
- Responding to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities
- Recommending new tax strategies and determining profitability of potential acquisitions and mergers
- Identifying areas of tax reductions and savings regularly
- Traveling to clients occasionally
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree in accounting, taxation, or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 2+ years of progressive tax return preparation and compliance experience
- CPA license or in process of obtaining CPA license
- Proficient with a computer software packages and platforms including Microsoft Office Suite, Tax software, ProSystems Engagement and CCH Axcess
- Strong tax accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, consolidated federal tax returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, initiative, and leadership skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to meet or exceed time constraints and goals
- Ability to work in a team environment, supervise staff and lead projects
- Ability to work additional hours as needed
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Maintains a high level of professionalism and consistently demonstrates respect for others

Salary ranges are provided to offer transparency and may vary depending on final candidate qualifications and local market conditions. Please find compensation information below for candidates residing in the following market(s): Massachusetts ranges are from $70,000 - 100,000
