About the role
This is a hybrid Tax Principal/Partner role (also open to step-up Senior Manager) with the opportunity to become a Partner within 2–5 years. The position sits within a professional services firm specializing in accounting, tax, and consulting, where you will lead tax planning, compliance, and provision activities while advising on strategic business decisions and tax-saving opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the company’s tax planning, compliance, and provision activities.
- Provide expert guidance on tax law and regulations to ensure compliance and up-to-date practices.
- Advise on tax implications of business decisions and identify tax-saving opportunities.
- Oversee preparation and review of income tax returns, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning for federal and state taxes.
- Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors, representing the company during audits and disputes.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes, improve reporting, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring tax policies and strategies remain compliant.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., Master’s in Taxation) or CPA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a tax principal or similar role; public accounting firm experience is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of tax law, tax advisory, tax accounting, and financial reporting.
- Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly.
- Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.
