Tax Preparer
Responsibilities
- Prepare federal and state tax returns for S corps, partnerships, trusts, and estates.
- Prepare payroll and sales tax filing.
- Review, reconcile, and correct disorganized or incomplete financial records in various formats (QB Desktop, QBO, clients' systems).
- Analyze K-1s from multi-level entities and ensure proper state and local tax allocation.
- Provide guidance on special transactions, including sales, distributions, and elections.
- Collaborate directly with clients and team members to gather information and clarify records.
Requirements
- BA in Accounting
- 5+ years minimum
- Proficiency in Quickbooks
- Must be highly analytical and be able to handle/clean up complex returns.
- Must be able to work with client on complex returns.
- Experience preparing Trust & Estate tax returns, Partnership returns, S-Corp returns.
- Understanding of Personal Property Tax declarations for various states.
- Understanding of PTET (Pass-through entity tax) quarterly estimated tax payments especially in New York and Connecticut.
- Understanding of NYC RPIE - Real Property Income and Expenses.
- Intermediate Excel, general financial analysis.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and finding practical solutions for complex situations.
- Able to fully understand how to reconcile and report sales tax filings.

Pay
Salaried role, hours fluctuate seasonally 100% on site during tax season.
Schedule
100% on site during tax season. 3 days/week onsite possible after the team gets to know you.
