Cashier

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to all guests in the Greer Store and/or Café.
• Operate a computerized POS system, ensuring proper handling of cash, credit and student OneCards.
• Accurately balance cash drawer at end of each shift.
• Prepare beverages including espresso drinks and smoothies.
• Under supervision, operate commercial kitchen equipment, including espresso machines and soft-serve dispensers.
• Properly and thoroughly clean machines as requested.
• Maintain the counter and dining area in a neat, clean, and sanitary manner.
• Assist with restocking shelves or inventory as requested.
• Ability to assist with light food preparation, as requested.

Job Specifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• 3-12 months experience in food service, food preparation, sanitation, and safety practices in a commercial kitchen
• Knowledge of cash register operation and basic cash handling procedures
• Ability to meet schedules and timelines
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others
• Ability to understand hazards and follow safety procedures when using chemicals and equipment
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and overtime

Working Conditions

• Sustain manual labor for eight hours or more
• Stand and/or walk on a hard surface for eight hours or more
• Lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs occasionally and up to 20 lbs frequently
• Stoop frequently
• Reach with hands and arms frequently
• Perform tasks of repetitive motion with arms, hands and wrists, such as cutting, slicing, stirring, and serving food
• Frequently exposed to cold from walk-in refrigerators and freezers
• Occasionally exposed to extreme heat or humidity in kitchen area
• Occasionally exposed to loud noise
• Frequently exposed to chemical agents
