Seasonal, non-exempt position reporting to the Office Supervisor within Managed Operations.
About the Role
The Tax Preparer prepares accurate tax returns for individuals and small businesses, delivers exceptional customer service, and stays current with tax regulations to help clients achieve financial success and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare individual and small business tax returns accurately and efficiently.
- Review financial records (income statements, expenditure documentation) to determine required tax forms.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Provide outstanding customer service by addressing client concerns and questions promptly.
- Conduct client interviews to gather tax-related information.
- Explain tax return outcomes and offer tax planning advice.
- Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations through ongoing education.
- Verify accuracy of data entered into tax software.
- Maintain organized and accurate records of client interactions and tax returns.
- Ensure all required documents are filed correctly and securely.
- Follow up on missing client information and update files as needed.
- Participate in training sessions and continuing education to maintain professional credentials.
- Stay informed about changes in tax laws and software updates.
- Collaborate with other tax professionals and office staff to ensure a seamless workflow.
- Assist in mentoring and training junior staff members as needed.
- Support marketing execution efforts.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Must possess a PTIN or be eligible to receive one.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in tax preparation.
Physical Requirements
- Position requires working at a desk for extended periods.
- Some overtime and weekend work may be required, especially during tax season.
