Tax Planning Consultant
About the role
Responsible for managing and providing technical expertise regarding the preparation and review of federal, state and local income tax return filings and income tax accruals, provisions, and disclosures for financial reporting purposes. Additionally, provide income tax compliance support to the Executive Director of Corporate Tax and Director of Income Tax Accounting including addressing tax technical issues, income tax forecasting, and performing analytics of income tax compliance and accounting data as required for management reporting. Lead or contribute toward special projects and tax process automation initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Other Bachelor’s Degrees may be considered.
- 7 years of experience in federal income and state taxation or tax compliance.
- Experience leading the research of complex tax issues and laws employing commonly accepted tax research methodologies, resources, and architecture.
- Advanced PC proficiency to include Excel, Access or similar.
- Proficiency in designing reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills to prepare effective documentation, facilitate training and development, and participate in presentations.
- Experience working cross-functionally within all levels of the organization, leading projects and in problem resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in taxation or law and/or professional certification (i.e. MST, CPA).
- Knowledge of the health insurance industry and its products.
- Experience with insurance taxation issues.
- Experience with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and SSAP 101.
- Experience working with technical tax compliance and accounting issues around mergers, acquisitions, and investments.
Schedule
Flex (Hybrid): 3 days in office; 2 days remote.
Pay
$92,700.00 – $167,500.00. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
