Work Schedule
This role requires a high degree of flexibility. Candidates should be open to working significant overtime. Minimum of 50 hours/week, with additional hours possible based on business demands.
Position Summary
Operations professionals are critical thinkers who partner with groups across the firm to ensure accurate tax withholding and reporting for the firm and its clients.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse team in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. The analyst will assist in creating and supporting scalable processes for the firm's global business segments, including Global Banking & Markets, Asset & Wealth Management, and Platform Solutions.
The role provides extensive exposure to and knowledge of U.S. regulations surrounding client documentation and their impact on tax withholding.
Team Overview
Tax Operations is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the firm's compliance with reporting authorities around the globe and managing related inquiries from various business segments across Global Banking & Markets, Asset & Wealth Management, and Platform Solutions.
Day-to-day team functions include:
- Accurate and timely account documentation and monitoring
- Tax withholding
- Client information reporting
- Reviewing and responding to client inquiries regarding unique tax situations, client structures, and documentation requirements to ensure accurate withholding
Primary Duties
- Review and validate client tax documentation, including W-9, W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, W-8IMY, and related forms.
- Review and respond to client documentation inquiries by conducting accurate analysis based on facts, regulatory requirements, and the circumstances of each inquiry.
- Provide tax-related operational support to the firm's Investment Professionals, Client Service Representatives, and clients.
- Review and resolve breaks and exceptions arising from documentation processes.
Education
Bachelor's degree required.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 1+ years of relevant work experience in Operations, Taxation, Accounting, Auditing, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex workflows.
- Results-oriented with the ability to balance time-sensitive projects while maintaining a longer-term, strategic focus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior business stakeholders and make decisions.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proactive and self-starting with a high level of ownership.
- Questioning mindset with the ability to recognize potential risks and flag them to managers.
- Flexibility and ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to work across various teams to complete time-sensitive tasks.
- Strong data analysis skills.
- Intermediate/advanced Excel skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Understanding of W-9 and W-8 tax forms or onboarding and Know Your Client (KYC) processes.
- SQL and Alteryx skills.
