Tax Managing Director, Core Tax Services - Corporate/ASC 740
About the role
The Tax Managing Director advises clients on tax implications, evaluates alternative actions, identifies compliance methods, and acts as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. They also serve as a member of the leadership team, supervise associates, and participate in business development.
Responsibilities
- Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Manages engagements to meet engagement management metrics.
- Delivers client service by encouraging adherence to the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM).
- Identifies and conducts necessary research to address complex issues.
- Reviews and applies FAS 109 and FIN 48 policies.
- Applies technical expertise to solve issues related to international tax, valuation allowances, business combinations, and stock-based compensation.
- Develops and implements strategies to maximize client benefits and reduce taxes.
- Develops and presents complex strategies to clients and prospective clients.
- Supervises associates, senior associates, and managers as needed.
Requirements
Ten (10) or more years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience required. Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred. Prior supervisory experience required. CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations) required. Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics required.
- Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations) required.
- Software proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred.
