Tax Manager - State and Local (SALT)

Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized advice on State and Local Tax (SALT) matters, focusing heavily on compliance and planning for partnership entities.
- Manage and review the preparation of complex state tax returns, including those for multiple fund-of-fund investment entities.
- Advise clients on state nexus determinations and subsequent filing requirements for both entities and individuals.
- Apply strong experience in determining and implementing state allocation and/or apportionment methodologies.
- Proactively monitor changes in state and local tax laws, assess the impact on clients, and develop strategies to optimize tax outcomes and mitigate risk.
- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, offering coaching and technical guidance to support their professional development.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and acting as a knowledgeable point of contact for complex tax issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification.
- Minimum of 7 or more years of progressive experience working directly in both SALT and Investment Partnerships within public accounting.
- Experience successfully responding to notices from state tax authorities.
- Knowledge of professional tax software and proficiency with MS Office.
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional client service and strong personnel management skills.
