Position Overview
As a Senior Tax Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients while leading internal teams to deliver high-quality, strategic tax services. This role blends technical excellence, team leadership, and business development, with an emphasis on collaboration, process improvement, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Technical Leadership
- Advises clients on tax implications related to business decisions, transactions, and long-term planning strategies
- Leads complex tax research and develops practical, risk-aware solutions for sophisticated client situations
- Reviews and oversees preparation of pass-through entity and high-net-worth individual tax returns
- Provides clear, concise guidance on tax risks, opportunities, and regulatory changes
- Serves as a primary point of contact for complex client tax matters and maintains strong client relationships
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Leads, mentors, and develops tax professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and collaboration
- Delegates effectively while maintaining visibility into project progress and quality
- Supports cross-functional teamwork across departments to deliver integrated client solutions
- Affords assistance in training initiatives and knowledge-sharing across the firm
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Identifies and implements process improvements, including leveraging technology and AI tools
- Promotes best practices that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Helps shape workflows that balance structure with flexibility in a fast-paced environment
Business Development & Firm Growth
- Builds and expands client relationships through networking, referrals, and market engagement
- Identifies additional service opportunities and contributes to firm growth strategies
- Participates in marketing initiatives and represents the firm with professionalism
Operational Excellence
- Reviews tax accruals and supporting documentation
- Oversees responses to IRS notices and represents clients when needed
- Ensures timely, accurate delivery of client work products
- Contributes to internal communications on tax law changes and industry developments
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
- CPA license (Pennsylvania preferred)
- Advanced degree (Master’s in Taxation or JD/LLM) is a plus
- 8+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on tax
- Strong experience with pass-through entities and high-net-worth individuals
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania and local tax regulations
- Experience in areas such as closely held businesses, nonprofit organizations, estate and gift taxation is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Wolters Kluwer and Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets is preferred
