Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain excellent relationships with privately held and private equity-backed healthcare companies, serving as a trusted primary advisor.
- Perform technical reviews of federal, state, and local tax returns with varying complexity, ensuring full compliance within the unique regulatory framework of the healthcare industry.
- Provide expert tax modeling and consulting for mergers, acquisitions, and equity transactions, identifying creative solutions for complex structural issues.
- Review operating agreements, letters of intent (LOIs), purchase agreements, and other legal documentation to ensure tax efficiency and risk mitigation.
- Lead the administrative side of new business proposals and the onboarding/integration of large practice groups (ranging from 20 to 100+ locations).
- Monitor the economic performance of engagements, including budgeting, billing, and collections, to ensure practice profitability.
- Recruit, develop, and motivate team members, building a "ready-now" pipeline of leaders to support a consolidated healthcare tax team.
- Partner with internal departments to provide comprehensive business solutions and capture growth opportunities from existing and prospective clients.
- Build a robust professional network with colleagues, referral sources, and external organizations to attract new business in the healthcare and private equity sectors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s in Taxation (MST) or Accountancy (MAcc) preferred but not necessary.
- Active CPA license required.
- 5–7+ years of public accounting experience, with a heavy focus on Partnerships (Subchapter K) and flow-through entities.
- Proven track record in Healthcare and/or Private Equity tax.
- Experience with multi-state healthcare practice groups is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform "cold checks" and technical reviews on complex transactional documents and tax returns.
- 3+ years of experience managing staff and overseeing the economic performance of a client portfolio.
- Ability to leverage or build a professional network within a market and broader healthcare community.
- Proven record of developing junior and mid-level staff into "ready-now" leaders through proactive coaching and technical training.
- The ability to balance multiple complex projects and meet client expectations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
