Tax Manager, Core Tax Services
About the role
The Tax Manager, Core Tax Services advises clients on tax implications, evaluates and selects alternative actions to minimize tax burden and cost of compliance, identifies methods to comply with tax regulations, and acts as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. This role involves marketing, networking, and business development within an area of expertise, as well as providing written tax advice to clients.
Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance: Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities, minimizes tax and reporting burdens, and monitors engagement process and actual time incurred vs. budget.
- Research: Identifies when research is needed, clearly frames issues to be researched, and reports the analysis.
- Tax Consulting: Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing taxes.
- Tax Specialization: Develops an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation.
- Strategy Development: Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel, such as by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefits.
- Other duties as required: May include supervising associates and senior associates on all projects, reviewing work prepared by associates and senior associates, and providing verbal and written performance feedback.
Requirements
Five (5) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, required. Prior supervisory experience, required. Industry expertise in one or more tax specialty, preferred. CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, preferred.
- Masters in Accountancy or Taxation, preferred.
- Software Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software, preferred.
