About the Role

Reporting to the SVP, Corporate Controller, the Tax Manager leads the Company's tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities while supporting the organization's continued growth. This role designs and enhances scalable tax processes, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, strengthens internal controls, and identifies opportunities to improve efficiency. The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on professional with strong technical tax expertise who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth, technology-enabled pharmaceutical services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the tax provision
  • Oversee tax compliance activities, including income, sales and use, property, and R&D tax credit
  • Track state apportionment data
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits and notices
  • Maintain tax balances on the general ledger
  • Stay updated on tax and GAAP accounting standards impacting financial reporting
  • Assist external auditors and tax preparers as needed to complete their engagements
  • Ensure documentation of tax filings, tax policies and procedures, and proper financial controls
  • Lead tax planning initiatives and identify tax savings opportunities
  • Monitor changes in federal, state, and local tax laws and assess business impacts
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, and Legal on tax matters related to business initiatives
  • Support tax-related aspects of acquisitions, restructurings, and special projects
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement of tax processes and controls
  • Collaborate with team members and support their roles as appropriate
  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned in support of the Finance organization

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical services or related industry
  • Background in public accounting preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed
  • Dynamic personality with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to new and changing environments
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Logical, efficient, and creative, with keen attention to detail
  • Understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards
  • Understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations
  • High degree of accountability for performance and its impact on the company’s success
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Regularly required to talk or hear
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods, use hands to type, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Preferred typing speed of at least 35 words per minute with 97% accuracy
  • Flexibility to travel as needed (minimal)
  • Operates in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers
