About the Role
Kreischer Miller has a large and experienced tax department comprised of tax specialists with international firm and Fortune 500 company experience, as well as expertise in the middle market tax arena. Our knowledgeable professionals are dedicated to providing sophisticated, yet practical solutions to our clients’ tax concerns with a view toward reducing their overall tax burden. The Tax Strategies practice services a broad range of clientele, from emerging small businesses to large multistate and multinational corporations, as well as business owners and high-net-worth individuals. This position will fill a key role as the firm responds to dynamic market opportunities in its Tax practice.

Responsibilities
- Develop and manage positive working relationships with clients and collaborate with professional staff across Audit & Accounting, Tax Strategies, Transaction Advisory & Business Valuation, and Technology Solutions practices.
- Coordinate concurrent tax projects with leading companies, addressing significant accounting matters, preparing client deliverables, scheduling team members, mentoring staff, and implementing new processes to maintain market leadership.
- Take on a formal career counselor role to support the growth of a small group of team members as you progress.
- Help grow the client base by playing a critical role in specialized industry groups, developing a productive personal network, and identifying new business opportunities.
- Perform efficient, accurate, complete, and timely review of clients’ tax returns, as well as planning and research.
- Handle audits with governmental agencies (federal and state/local) and related notices.
- Review and provide analyses of complex tax returns across a range of entity types and client structures, reflecting the generalist, all-client-facing nature of the role.
- Make decisions on all but the most unusual tax situations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 6-8 years of recent tax experience in public accounting, with demonstrated ability to function at the manager level.
- Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, with proven progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research.
- Some experience representing clients before tax authorities is helpful.
- Strong commitment to excellence, client service, and professional growth.
- Ability to manage multiple tax projects and clients while developing/training staff and building teams.
- Team player motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, with a positive attitude, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn.
- Strong ability to understand the “big picture” quickly, identify key issues, prioritize analysis/output among competing tasks, and meet deadlines.
Applicants with a background exclusively in government agencies such as the IRS are not being considered at this time.
Schedule
Standard hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm outside of busy season, with increased charge hours expected during peak periods. The firm offers a flexible hybrid work model, with an expectation to be in the office three days per week. Some travel to client sites in the greater Philadelphia area should be expected, though it is not extensive.
