Responsibilities
- Assist multi-state companies with property tax issues including compliance, consulting, planning, and controversies.
- Assist clients with business tax planning transactions and mergers and acquisitions, including identifying and developing property tax issues and savings opportunities that arise from legal entity changes/transactions. Research and draft property tax technical memoranda.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop and sustain excellent client relationships.
- Analyze, prepare, and review tax workpapers, returns, and extensions.
- Assist in reviewing notices of value and preparing recommendations for appeals.
- Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more.
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, real estate, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program. Preferred areas of study: Accounting or Finance and Taxation.
- Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics preferred.
- Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills. Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, and ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, Power BI, MS Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights.
- Excellent communication, time management, leadership skills, feedback-oriented, and resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to commutable work locations using a personal vehicle or public transportation.
- Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. KPMG will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work visa status for this opportunity.
