Responsibilities

  • Perform tax-related tasks, including compliance, advising, and planning for clients across industries, such as partnerships, corporations, S-corporations, multistate, and multinational enterprises.
  • Participate in data analytics assignments using KPMG technology, create tax return work papers and tax returns, and coordinate offshore resources.
  • Perform tax due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities.
  • Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
  • Advise multinational enterprises on business decisions (e.g., location, entity choice, supply chain optimization, capital access) and tax planning, considering multinational tax risk profiles, global effective tax rates, and cash posture.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, sustain excellent client relationships, and build capabilities in key technologies (e.g., AI, Alteryx, Power BI) to enhance tax service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program.
  • Preferred: Degrees or areas of study in Accounting and Taxation; pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business (state where the office is located). Completion of academic credits required prior to starting as a Tax Associate.
  • Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics preferred.
  • Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills; demonstrated ability to drive strategic outcomes in a dynamic environment.
  • Professional demeanor, collaborative leadership approach, and a quality service mindset.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, Power BI, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes.
  • Excellent communication, time management, leadership skills, and a feedback-oriented, resourceful approach to delivering high-quality work.
  • Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to commutable work locations using personal transportation or public transit.
  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, sometimes with short notice.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. KPMG will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work visa status for this opportunity.
