About the role

KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join our KPMG Tax practice. This role involves performing various tax-related tasks, participating in data analytics, assisting with tax return preparation, conducting tax due diligence, and supporting multinational enterprises with business and tax planning.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tax-related tasks, including compliance, advising, and planning for a variety of clients in different industries.
  • Participate in data analytics assignments using KPMG technology, creating tax return work papers, and preparing tax returns for clients.
  • Conduct tax due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities.
  • Afford assistance to multistate companies with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
  • Support multinational enterprises with business decisions, such as where to locate and operate, choice of entity, supply chain optimization, and accessing capital for global operations.
  • Provide tax planning advice, including anticipating and understanding potential short- and long-term considerations while managing a multinational tax risk profile, global effective tax rate, and cash posture.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on assignments and maintain excellent client relationships.
  • Develop capabilities in key technologies that support client service delivery, such as AI, Alteryx, Power BI, and Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business (state in which the office is located).
  • Preferred: CPA licensure, GPA of 3.0 or above, coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics.
  • Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills, with a quality service mindset.
  • Ability to learn and navigate technologies like AI, Alteryx, Power BI, MS Office applications, and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights.
  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
