Tax & Grant Associate

About the role

The Associate, Tax and Grant supports BAYADA’s nonprofit, tax, and grant compliance functions while embodying and promoting The BAYADA Way. Key responsibilities include preparing and filing tax returns, managing nonprofit annual filings, supporting grant research and administration, and assisting with audits.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and communicate the core values of BAYADA and The BAYADA Way.
• Develop working knowledge of BAYADA’s mission, services, people, organization, policies and procedures.
• Prepare and file Sales & Use, Personal Property, and Gross Receipts/Business Privilege tax returns.
• Renew applicable sales tax exemptions as needed; review transaction-level activity to ensure the exemption's consistent, compliant application.
• Aid in preparing nonprofit and tax annual filings with the IRS and State Revenue agencies.
• Support the donation intake process by recording and reviewing related general ledger activity, reconciling the general ledger to provided donation activity reports, monitoring transactions for compliance with nonprofit guidelines, and preparing annual charitable registration extensions and renewals.
• Research and analyze new grant opportunities, develop and monitor budgets, maintain data in the grant database, track expenditures, and prepare required funder reports.
• Manage the grant lifecycle, including adding and removing grant expenditures, creating and adjusting budgets, and preparing periodic reports to internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to the refinement of processes tied to tracking grant receipts/disbursements, minimizing the need for manual intervention.
• Maintain and monitor grant-specific spending against the established budget, distributing periodic reports to internal stakeholders.
• Prepare and submit funder-required reports, including related invoices and substantiation, in advance of the funder deadlines.
• Aid in capturing uncompensated/undercompensated client care, in addition to quantifying the value of BAYADA’s community outreach efforts.
• Perform related duties, or as required or requested by supervisor.

Requirements

• Four (4) year college degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Prior nonprofit experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) applications and ability to learn various software applications (i.e. Workday).
• Strong understanding of US GAAP concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and processes.
• Ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to question and challenge the status quo to improve efficiency, accuracy and outcomes.
• High level of confidentiality and attention to detail with commitment to accuracy.

Qualifications

• One (1) to three (3) years of public accounting or related industry experience.

Pay

$24-$28 / hour depending on qualifications.
