Tax Experienced Manager, Corporate/ASC 740 Focus
About the role
The Tax Experienced Manager, Core Tax Services advises clients on tax implications, evaluates alternative actions to reduce tax burden, identifies compliance methods, and acts as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. This role also involves marketing, networking, and business development within an area of specialization, maintaining client relationships, and providing top-level decisions regarding tax filings and resolutions.
Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance: Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens, and manages client service teams to comply with Firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Tax Consulting: Assists clients in maximizing benefits by decreasing taxes, applying tax knowledge to business/industry issues, and implementing Firm strategies.
- Tax Specialization: Develops in-depth understanding of one or more areas of taxation, organizes and conducts external CPE training sessions, and trains and mentors associates on specialization areas.
- Strategy Development: Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to benefit clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel, and implements tax strategies.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises associates and seniors, reviews work, provides feedback, and trains on software tools and career development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or a Master's in Accountancy or Taxation.
- Six or more years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (or the equivalent).
- Software proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and tax compliance process software.

- Knowledge of ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48).
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software.
- Ability to recognize and communicate potential risks and changes in tax policy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

California Range: $136,000 - $165,000

Illinois Range: $120,000 - $139,000
Maryland Range: $121,000 - $145,000
Massachusetts Range: $130,000 - $147,750
Minnesota Range: $100,000 - $130,000
New Jersey Range: $130,000 - $165,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $155,000 - $180,000
Washington Range: $131,400 - $160,000
Washington DC Range: $140,000 - $162,000
