About the role

The Tax Manager will assist in providing tax compliance & consulting services to BDO’s Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate clients. They will ensure compliance with applicable authorities, minimize tax and reporting burdens, and manage complex engagements with a team of tax professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Taxes Compliance: Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities, minimizes tax and reporting burdens, and keeps client's tax and reporting burden as low as possible.
  • Tax Compliance Process: Prepares required filings (tax returns) using a system of review and documentation to ensure compliance, collects necessary data, identifies missing items, and communicates them to prepare returns.
  • Software Efficiency: Utilizes Firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in tax prep process, and effectively teams with Principal, Tax Seniors, and Associates on project completion.
  • Engagement Management: Manages the engagement, including billing, collections, and the budget for projects, builds and manages client relationships, and ensures/Documents client work and conclusions in the client tax file.
  • Tax Consulting: Assists with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or a Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation.
  • Six (6) or more years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Experience in the taxation of partnerships, and industry expertise in one or more tax specialties.
  • CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (or the equivalent of one of these designations).
  • Proficiency in tax compliance process software, and experience with tax research databases.

  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships.

Skills

  • Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
  • Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance process software.
