Tax & Client Accounting Professional

About the role

The firm is seeking a Tax & Client Accounting Professional to join their dynamic team in Clifton, NJ. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with public accounting or CPA firm experience who enjoys working with individuals, small businesses, partnerships, S-corps, trusts, and closely held companies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual and business tax returns
• Handle federal, New Jersey, and New York tax filings
• Work on partnership, S-corp, C-corp, trust, and small business returns
• Review client financial records, workpapers, and supporting documents
• Identify deductions, credits, and planning opportunities
• Communicate with clients to gather information and answer questions
• Support bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and client accounting work
• Get involved in advisory work as client needs arise
• Help support and mentor junior staff depending on experience level

Requirements

• 2+ years of tax, accounting, or public accounting experience
• CPA firm experience is strongly preferred
• Experience with individual and small business tax returns
• Exposure to partnerships, S-corps, C-corps, trusts, estates, or high-net-worth clients is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred
• CPA, CPA candidate, or someone working toward CPA is preferred
• NJ/NY tax experience is a plus
• Experience with CCH Axcess, ProSystem, QuickBooks, Engagement, Knowledge Coach, or similar software is helpful
• Strong attention to detail and good communication skills
• Comfortable working directly with clients or interested in growing into more client-facing work

Pay

Base salary up to $130,000 depending on experience, plus paid overtime at 1.5x for hours worked over 35 per week
