About the role
Corient is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tax Associate to join the Corient Tax Practice. The practice provides Tax Planning and Compliance Services to sophisticated high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, trusts, estates, and private foundations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare individual, trust, estate, gift, foundation, and business tax returns on a timely basis
- Review tax source documents and data pushed through OCR for accuracy
- Conduct tax research to support tax planning and compliance efforts
- Be proactive and stay current on new tax legislation and tax reform
- Assist with handling Federal and State Tax notices
- Maintain detailed and organized tax files, including documenting all relevant information and supporting documents for tax returns
- Collect and input relevant financial records into tax return software or databases
- Analyze tax data submitted by clients to maximize the outcome to the client
- Support the tax planning process for clients and members of the Tax team
Qualifications
- Solid accounting and knowledge of tax laws and regulations in general
- Experience in preparing individual, trust and business tax returns
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and tax applications (e.g. CCH Axcess)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Superior problem-solving abilities as well as good decision-making skills
- Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills
- Detail oriented
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to effectively manage a variety of projects accurately and simultaneously within strict deadlines
- Ability to provide exceptional client service and exhibits a sense of urgency to complete work in a timely and accurate manner
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university required; Master’s in Taxation or Accountancy preferred
- Active CPA licensed or seeking CPA license preferred
- 1 to 3 years of prior work experience as a tax preparer preferred, but not required (Big 4 Experience Preferred)
